Xmas!
Well the holidays are coming, I know because I had to venture out to get lights today, specifically the old school big bulb colored lights. When I got to Target there entire lights section was picked clean, so I then I was left with no choice, i had to go to Wal-mart. I hate Wal-mart its always an awful experience especially on the weekend. There always bad no matter what part of the country you are in, and Im pretty sure somebody had puked in the store earlier near the entrance, i know because I think I spotted some of that puke sawdust clean up crap still on the floor .
It was worth it though because I found what I needed, for years I’ve wanted to put the old school xmas lights on my house. You see back when I was real young we used the Big bulb colored lights on the house, but then my family moved to a rather Waspy neighborhood and white lights were all my mother would allow let I think it was to blend in with the rest of neighborhood….. BORING! This year we get to change things up a bit thankfully, I get my gawdy lights for the house which personally I think are much more aesthetically pleasing then those lame icicle lights, or I’m just a sucker for campy stuff. The lights are the only thing in decorating I can get some hand in, my mother decks the rest of the house out in Santa’s and Nutcrackers, it’s a little terrifying.
Aside from this it is time for Xmas music, and cookies. My personal holiday favorite is “Christmas Wrapping” by The Waitresses, I fuckin love this song I used to dance around and sing it when I was kid, and I had to resist the urge to do the same when it popped on my ipod at the gym the other day. As for baking my mother is teaching me her holiday favorites including her coveted “tri-color cookie” also known as a rainbow cookie, my moms are better then any bakeries I’ve ever had, they’re are breathtaking….. Aside from this I’m excited because this is the first year that Jeff gets to spend xmas with my family, so it should be beyond phenomenal. Unfortunately though the crowds and tourists will state to flood new york….
